Developing Technologies for Urban Gardens

This course explores alternative forms of permaculture while carving out a space for designers to develop technologies, products, methods or systems to facilitate urban gardening. Students will will learn how to use their creativity and existing skills to design and produce products and systems that investigate and help transform urban environments into green spaces. The course is both a seminar class and a production studio. This course will invite participants to interact with specific communities and sub-cultures in order to create user-centered designs that consider environmental factors, socio-economic conditions and cultural implications.
